Babooshka Monday

Here is an argument for heightened focus in athletics, as depicted by a real incident in my life. (Thanks for capturing this, Anna.)

I was a camp counselor for three summers. It was the best time of my life. On Babooshka Monday (a holiday we invented), my friend Liz and I were singing Fiddler on the Roof out the door of the cabin.
The sun was shining. It was a beautiful day, and we had 15 minutes free before dinner. Liz challenged me to a tetherball match.

1. The match begins.

2. The volley.

3. The distraction.

4. Struck in the face!

5. The apology hug.

Have a very nice day. Please remember to focus.

  1. Oh my word! You make me laugh. I am so glad that you have that experience caught in pictures. :)

  2. I've never met you, & only seen you once at Mt. Masochist 2008 I think. Through your blog I do know you. You are me: Only smarter, funnier, younger, & oh yeah; female. Please keep the stories coming.

  3. Haha, ALDO, thanks! I'm glad you are me...or I am you. That's funny! I hope to meet you on the trails sometime. Please say hi! Happy running, and thanks again for the compliments!

  4. That is my sister Liz! She is the most awesomest sister in the world.....but she does have a tendency to hit people in the face. Ask her about the guy who's nose she broke while playing for the boys soccer team.

  5. Haha that's funny! Hi Liz's brother! She is the BEST. I'm living in Williamsburg near her this summer, and I am so so so so excited. I'll have to ask her about the broken nose... :)
